In "Scapegoat", examines the roots of our uncomfortable and often hostile attitudes towards disabled people. A recent survey by Scope found that 47% of disabled people had either experienced physical abuse or witnessed the physical abuse of a disabled friend. She traces the story from Greek and Roman culture through to Britain’s 'community care' programme.
